Shahnewaz Ahmed has joined our lab as a rotation student from the Physics and Astronomy Ph.D. program. His background is in theoretical and mathematical physics, but he is excited about studying theoretical biophysics with our lab for the first time. He plans to explore how Fisher's geometric model, a classic approach to understanding genotype-phenotype-fitness maps in evolutionary theory, can explain the variation in mutant fitness across environments.
