Welcome to the Quantitative Evolutionary Microbiology Laboratory, led by Dr. Michael Manhart. We study how microbes grow, interact, and evolve, using a combination of laboratory experiments, data analysis, and computational modeling. Our goal is to understand the fundamental principles of microbes, especially their evolution, ecology, and cell physiology, so we can develop predictive models that solve problems in human health and the environment.

We are based in the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine at Rutgers University and affiliated with the Rutgers University Microbiome Program.
