New publication on how statistical analyses vary across researchers in ecology and evolution

February 6, 2025

Michael is a coauthor (out of 310 total) on a new crowdsourced study called "Same data, different analysts: variation in effect sizes due to analytical decisions in ecology and evolutionary biology" published in BMC Biology (PDF is available). Michael contributed one of the analyses on the blue tit data set.

This study shows how researchers can analyze the same data set but still come to different conclusions depending on the statistical analysis they used. Similar studies in other fields, such as the social sciences, have come to similar conclusions about the wide heterogeneity in outcomes across researchers.
